Through investigative agencies innocent Muslim youths are being kept at a secret place and are subjected to inhuman treatment that only becomes known to the Human Rights Commission when the detained is found dead. Disclosing this state of affairs in a press conference Ex Inspector General of Police (IG) S R Darapuri said that the case of Khalid Mujahid is not the first case of its kind because Muslim youth are a target. He said that in his 32 years of service he has seen these kinds of cases and because he did not stand with other officers in such cases therefore he was denied any promotion.  He retired from the position where he was then.

Khalid Mujahid
Police claim that Khalid Mujahid died of heart attack but signs of torture may are visible on his face

He said Khalid Mujahid is not the only one, there are many Muslim youth who have been missing from their districts and even their families do not know about them because the investigative agencies have abducted them and kept them at a secret place so that implicate them in a bomb blast some time in future. Also blaming the media he said that when ever any Muslim is detained and alleged as a terrorist by the agencies then the media also does not feel any restraint from claiming him as a terrorist because they do not even try to ascertain whether whatever the agencies are claiming is true or false. He said in this scenario the state government and high police officials are not any less responsible because the agencies work under their instructions only. Stating an example he said that it is with the connivance of police officers that an innocent person is put behind bars alleging that he had an unlicensed pistol. This is a case of terrorism about which high officials were fully aware and it was acted upon their own instructions.

Blaming Vikram Singh, he said that at the time of the blast when the alleged terrorists Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Qasmi were arrested, nothing was found upon them but Vikram Singh asked these persons to pay Rs 5 lakh, telling them that if they paid, they will be set free and the amount will be used to lift someone else and he will be implicated instead. He said, the Nimesh Commission report contains concrete evidence that these alleged terrorists are innocent but the state government has not released that report. Advocate Randheer Singh Suman, who is defending these alleged terrorists in the Barabanki court, said that the alleged terrorists told him that during detention they used to be forced to sit with hands tied in an iron frame and electric current was applied to force them to accept that they were part of the blasts. Not only this, when they asked for water, they were given urine to drink and were forced to eat pork. PankajPanday and Avinash Mishra of the STF were very active in this. They accused another high officer who sprinkled petrol on their private parts to force them to accept the crime. Advocate Suman said that the alleged terrorists had mentioned the names of these officers in their statement. He demanded that the CBI should start its investigations from 2007 in order to uncover the misdeeds of these officers.

Jail Superintendant Mr Mauria told a delegation which visited Lucknow district jail on Sunday to meet Tariq Qasmi that he is a truthful person and the allegations against him are baseless.

S.R. DARAPURI’S CLARIFICATION  In the last but one para of this write up it has been mentioned, ‘Blaming Vikram Singh, he said that at the time of the blast when the alleged terrorists Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Qasmi were arrested, nothing was found upon them but Vikram Singh asked these persons to pay Rs 5 lakh, telling them that if they paid, they will be set free and the amount will be used to lift someone else and he will be implicated instead.

With reference to the above I have to clarify that I never gave such statement to anybody. I have been misquoted by the reporter.

We assure readers and Mr Darapuri that the translation is in accordance with the report that appeared in Sahara:—Urdu Media Monitor
